Berry Building

History

Berry Elementary School was named after the town of Berry, Md. In the early 1900s, the town was located on the old stagecoach road that wound from the county seat of Port Tobacco to Washington, D.C. The town was named after descendants of Dr. Samuel Berry who lived in Charles County during the late 1600s. Today the intersection of Berry and Middletown roads marks where the town used to be.
