The career and technical education (CTE) applications for Project Lead the Way (PLTW): Biomedical Sciences and Project Lead the Way: Engineering will reopen from 3:30 p.m., March 24 to 5 p.m., April 10.
Current eighth grade students who are accepted to the PLTW: Biomedical Sciences program will attend either La Plata High School or Westlake High School based on their zoned school location.
The PLTW: Biomedical Science program is based on the national content standards for science, mathematics and English language arts, and the accountability criteria for the national Health Care Cluster Foundation Standards. Students who complete the program are prepared for employment and further education in the medical field.
Eighth graders accepted into the PLTW: Engineering program will attend either Henry E. Lackey High School or Thomas Stone High School based on their zoned school location.
The PLTW: Engineering pathway prepares students for further education and careers in engineering and engineering technology. In the final course, students complete an industry-mentored capstone project in engineering design and development.
Transportation will be provided and students will attend the regional high school full time.
Students must be logged into their CCPS Office365 student account in order to access and complete the application form.

- March 24-April 10 — CTE application window open.
- April 27-30 — Interest surveys at students’ middle school.
- May 4-8 — Interest surveys scored by instructors.
- May 22 — Acceptance/denial/waitlist information sent through Synergy to students and parents.
CTE application scoring
Student scores are based on:
- 60% — Interest survey responses.
- 25% — Grades in core subject areas: final grades from sixth and seventh grade, and Quarter 1 grades from eighth grade.
- 10% — Xello core lesson completion.
- 5% — Program student applies to matches the career cluster assessment in Xello.
