Due to rain in the forecast, Charles County Public Schools (CCPS) has changed the times and dates of three graduation ceremonies that were planned to be held outdoors on Wednesday, May 28.
La Plata High School’s graduation ceremony will shift from 9 a.m., Wednesday, May 28, at Regency Furniture Stadium to 5 p.m., Thursday, May 29, at Regency Furniture Stadium.
The 1 p.m., May 28, commencement exercise for Maurice J. McDonough High School is moving to 9 a.m., Friday, May 30, at Regency Furniture Stadium. McDonough will be closed on Friday, May 30.
North Point High School’s graduation ceremony set for 5 p.m., Wednesday, May 28, will now be moved to the Convocation Center at North Point and start at 6 p.m.
As graduations held at North Point must use the parking lots of neighboring Theodore G. Davis Middle School and William A. Diggs Elementary School, only an evening ceremony can be accommodated on Wednesday, May 28. CCPS is not able to close Davis and Diggs for students and staff on May 28.
CCPS has shared the graduation schedule changes with parents and staff at La Plata, McDonough and North Point high schools. Project Graduation for La Plata, McDonough and North Point will remain 8 to 11:30 p.m., Wednesday, May 28, at the Charles County Fairgrounds in La Plata.
CCPS is planning to move forward with its Thursday, May 29, graduation ceremonies at the stadium at the previously reported times. They are:
9 a.m., Thursday, May 29 – Westlake High School.
1 p.m., Thursday, May 29 – Thomas Stone High School.
North Point is at 2500 Davis Road in Waldorf. Regency Furniture Stadium is at 11765 St. Linus Drive in Waldorf. For the most up-to-date information about CCPS graduation ceremonies, visit www.ccboe.com.
