Each month, Berry Elementary will be focusing on a different social-emotional learning (SEL) skill or theme and provide simple, engaging challenges that both students and staff can participate in throughout the month. These activities are intended to encourage reflection, strengthen relationships, build positive habits, and create opportunities for meaningful connections across our school community.
The first student challenge for the month of October is: No One Sits Alone. This month we would like to challenge our students to look for someone who may be sitting or playing alone, and engage in positive conversation and activities during class, lunch, and recess.
We encourage everyone to participate and help us make SEL a visible and meaningful part of our school culture.

Dear Berry Families,
Get ready to travel the world without leaving Berry Elementary! We are excited to invite you to our upcoming Passport to Culture: Berry's Multicultural Night—an evening filled with culture, creativity, learning, food, and family fun!
Date: Tuesday, October 13, 2026
Time: 5:00-7:00 p.m.
Location: Berry Elementary School
Please note: This event is for Berry families only.
Berry families are invited to create a tri-fold display board, similar to a science fair board, featuring any country of their choice. You may select a country connected to your family's heritage or simply one that your family would enjoy learning more about.
Your display might include information about the country's:
Culture and traditions
People and population
Art and music
Geography and landmarks
Native plants and animals
Clothing, celebrations, languages, or other interesting facts
Families are also welcome to bring artifacts, traditional clothing, artwork, music, instruments, crafts, or other items to accompany their displays.
If your family would like to share food, you may bring either:
Individually wrapped food items that include nutrition labels, or
Homemade food accompanied by a clearly posted list of all ingredients
Because food allergies and dietary needs vary, each family will be responsible for supervising and deciding what their own children may eat.
In addition to the family-created cultural displays, the evening will feature:
Food trucks
Country displays from Berry families and Berry staff
A story room with diversity- and inclusion-themed read-alouds
Multicultural crafts
A henna station
Our Fall Scholastic Book Fair Family Night
We hope you will join us for this exciting and educational celebration of the many cultures, countries, and traditions that make our world—and our Berry community—so special. We cannot wait to learn, explore, create, and celebrate together!

Happy first day back to school Berry families!
it is your friendly neighborhood school librarian, Mrs. Warman-Johnson.
I would like to wish everyone a great first week! I will also be sending home information through Synergy mail as well.
Every student in the school is able to check out one book a week from the Berry library. If for any reason, you do not want your student checking out a book please let me know via email so that I can document it. There are no late fees at Berry, only a lost book fee if the book is misplaced and not found by the student.

School supply lists for elementary and middle schools are posted to the CCPS website at School Supply Lists. High schools do not have supply lists, as students will receive information about any required materials during the first week of school. Questions about specific school lists should be directed to the specific school.
